This research project explores women’s hair as a visual language that communicates identity, culture, and power while revealing the societal expectations placed on female self-expression. Drawing from historical movements, cultural traditions, personal experiences, and contemporary issues, it examines how hair has functioned as a symbol of resistance, belonging, and transformation across generations. Through written research and visual exploration, the project argues that women’s hair is far more than a physical feature; it is a living archive of memory, community, and identity.
